Although Coronavirus restrictions have now been lifted, we know that some members are still concerned about the risks of Covid. Therefore, we will be holding our AGM virtually for members again this year.
At the AGM you will hear reports from the senior representatives in the branch, ask questions and discuss how you would like the union to work over the coming year.
There has never been a more important time to be involved; it is not too late to consider being a contact for where you work or a steward. Why not get involved and add your voice to our branch? We are stronger when we join together and ask that you help by talking about UNISON with your colleagues and asking them to join – Together we are stronger!
The AGM will take place on Friday 11th March 2022 starting at 5.30 pm. A link for the meeting has been sent out to all members on our mailing list. If you are a member of our branch but have not received the email please phone 02476 550829 or email email@example.com
Attending the Meeting…
We look forward to seeing as many of our members as possible at the AGM. To attend it, you will need access to a laptop or desktop computer. If you would like to discuss how to do this or other options for attending, including dialing in to the meeting via a phone, please call us on 02476 550829
We are writing to let you know that this year’s AGM will be held on 11th March 2022. It is likely this will be a virtual meeting but we will confirm the format closer to the date when we know more about COVID restrictions.
The last year has proved how vital it is that we have active members engaged in their unions. Members have talked to us about the issues you have faced working remotely and thanked reps for the support they have had in person. We have a variety of roles within UNISON and if you want to get involved then there is no better time.
We will support and help new reps and if you want to get active why not get in touch for a chat about what we can do with you to help members in your workplace. If you wish to stand for a branch post or to be a rep please contact the office for the form, either by ringing 024 7655 0829 or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
For existing reps there are many opportunities to get more involved at a branch and regional level. With this circular are the nomination papers for stewards, officers and seconded reps. The nominations open on Monday 20th December and close at midday on 19th January.
We know that not all members are physically in their workplaces so if you want to be nominated for a role then please fill in the form and get 2 members to propose and second you. This can be done via email where the member can simply forward back your form to you and put that they agreed to nominate you. It would be great if they can include all the details we normally ask for on the forms. If you are struggling with this please get in touch; it’s been a different and difficult year and we will be as flexible as we can be to meet nomination requirements.
As we all know, the past year has been completely different to any other year and therefore our AGM will be held via teams rather than our normal in-person meeting.
At the AGM you will hear reports from the senior representatives in the branch and you can ask questions and discuss how you would like the union to work over the coming year. Whilst sounding very formal we ensure that the reports focus on the work that we do and the challenges we face across the branch.
Due to changes in the way the branch has had to operate, we also need to adjust our rules in order for us to have online meetings and allow electronic participation in the union. It is of vital importance that as many people attend as possible because we need 150 people to agree to our rule changes. These will be available with the AGM report on the branch website http://www.coventryunison.co.uk prior to the AGM meeting.
If we do not get enough people to our AGM, then we will have to call another meeting shortly afterwards to get an agreement on our rules.
There has never been a more important time to be involved; it is not too late to consider being a contact for where you work or a steward. Why not get involved and add your voice to our branch?
We are delighted to announce, Labour MP for Coventry South, Zarah Sultana will be speaking at the meeting.
The AGM will take place on Friday 12th March 2020 starting at 5.30 pm. A web link to the meeting has been sent by email to all Members. Please contact the Branch if you have not received this.
Hopefully, we can see as many of our members as possible attend the AGM this year.
Our AGM this year will be slightly different. At the moment, we are planning for a “virtual” AGM to be held via teams on Friday 12th March. More details with the links will come in writing in a few weeks time.
The last year has proved how vital it is that we have active members engaged in their workplaces and their unions. We have a variety of rewarding roles within UNISON and if you want to get involved, there is no better time. We will train, support, and help new reps so if you want to get active, why not get in touch for a chat about what we can do together to help members in your workplace.
